los cristianos
Originally a small fishing village, over the years it has grown to be one of the most popular resorts on the Island. Even with all its added tourist attractions (the likes of The Aqua Park, Monkey Zoo and golf courses that are in close proximity) Los Cristianos still manages to retain some of the old Canarian architecture, with the church square and cobbled shopping streets.
Los Cristianos is located on the southern Tenerife coast, it is a quieter and more relaxed resort than certain areas in Playa de Las Americas (which is just a short taxi ride away). A wide choice of bars, pubs and restaurants are still available. Although Los Cristianos does attract all age groups, older couples and families seem to be the more popular holidaymaker.
The harbour (which is now also a marina, with some very impressive yachts and boats to see) is not only used for the daily whales and dolphin’s excursions, you can also take a short trip to La Gomera with Fred Olsen.
Los Cristianos beaches are manmade with imported sand. One of them being 400 m long and 100m wide is considered one of the safest for bathers and especially for children.
The main motorway and local roads make Los Cristianos easily accessible and well situated for access to the entire island.
TAXIS:
- Los Cristianos to Playa de las Americas around 5 - 6€.
- Los Cristianos to Reina Sofia Airport around 15 - 18€.
